Couldn't hear anything. I can relate. I saw one talk about Filipino's. When we were in DC my wife was using an open umbrella. No rain. A little boy asked his dad why is that lady carrying an umbrella. My Wife is a Filipina.

It's that pale skin life. Light skin is essential if you want to survive in the Philippines. My dad was often mistaken for my driver when we went out. ;P

My departed grandfather on mom's side was from Manilla and so we had a bit of that growing up. Interestingly, having a European wife, they shun the sun for a partially similar reason. They also feel that their skin is too sensitive for the few occasions that they get to really have a radical tan, but more culturally, being "dark" means you work outside. So being "light" you obviously have a high paying job indoors.
