This was probably one thing that was most challenging in those times! Because not everyone was equal partners in this endeavor!

As a side note, when I got to Germany in January 1966, I found it interesting how few Germans actually admitted to being a Nazi, or even fighting in the war. Most of the ones who did always claimed to only have fought on the Eastern Front.
I understand, but it was almost comical.
I dated one young lady who's father was a high ranking police detective. She told me he had over 25 years with the police. That meant he was in the department during the war. From my understanding, only party members were allowed in police units. But naturally she denied it and her father would not speak of it.
