By all means, reduce spending. But what you fail to understand that is the debt and the debt limit is about money already spent, much of it under the Trump administration (25% of the entire national debt). What you are advocating as "fiscal responsibility" would be akin to not paying the credit card bill on debts already incurred. What do you think would happen if a person refused to pay their credit card bill? What would you advise a person in your charge about paying their credit card bill? Not to pay it?
