..."On temporary order to the USS Liberty in 1967, he survived a torpedo attack and airstrike on the ship by the Israeli forces that killed 34 and wounded 174 Americans. The Israeli government explained that the attack, which occurred during the Six Day War, was intended for an Egyptian vessel, for which the Liberty was mistaken.

Wounded in the ATTACK, GySgt Lockwood was medically evacuated to the USS America on June 9, 1967. GySgt Lockwood received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his action aboard the USS Liberty.

From March 1969 to February 1970 GySgt Lockwood deployed to Vietnam with 1st Radio Battalion. After assignment o Company H, MSB, Homestead, FL, he was medically discharged on June 30, 1972."...

CPT Richard Trione The Buildings I Worked in were Named for the Dead of the Liberty, I Was Trained as a Navy Spook by the Survivors of the Liberty!
