Agree that construction standards leave a lot to be desired, It's also a good way for the Erdogan government to shift attention away from their less than stellar response.

When a whole building comes down from a problem at its base, it tells me that the platform for the building was not properly done per common construction design... As a result, many people have died a horrible death... Very sad to see this unfold...

I really did wonder about building codes. Good to know they exist. No surprise that, once again, the cause is corruption. When is corruption not associated with cost, lack of trustworthy oversight, and shortcuts that all together promise to be deadly.
