Here in Dawson County, GA one Sheriff’s deputy is grateful for citizens carrying firearms. The deputy had given a ma a lift and was dropping him at a stop and Rob. He was going to give the man some cash so he could buy a meal. The man attacked the deputy and was trying to get the deputies gun. A woman pumping gas nearby aske the deputy if she wanted her to intervene by shooting the assailant, he answered yes, she shot and wounded the assailant. The man ran to the nearby Micky D’s where he was detained by civilians there. So yeah, here in Dawson the deputies have no problem with folks that are legally armed.

Maj Robert Thornton - Is everyone required to go to these safety classes? The fact is, the "Good Guy with a gun" myth is just that... a myth. It maybe supported by a smattering of anecdotal evidence, but that is all there is.

I certainly would like to see the source on your numbers as it may be flawed. Was it based on a telephone, self-reporting survey by chance, like most of the statistics John Davis provides?

MSgt Steve Sweeney - The Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council released the results of their research through the CDC last month. Researchers compiled data from previous studies in order to guide future research on gun violence, noting that “almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year.”

Uh-huh. Sure.

So the solution to the existing laws not being enforced by progressive DAs is to create more laws that the progressive DAs won't enforce.

Republicans aren't "weak on guns". They are "weak on Liberal views of what gun control should be", which apparently is to

I don't believe you watched the video. How would you feel about expanding the ATF to better enforce laws already on the books?

Here is an extended segment that addresses the point you bring up.

You also say "So the solution to the existing laws not being enforced by progressive DAs is to create more laws that the progressive DAs won't enforce." - Can you give an actual example of where this is the case? Or is this just something you "feel" is true? I read your article and didn't see anything on new gun laws.

You are correct that I didn't watch the entire video. I got through about a 90 seconds and stopped watching. At that point it was all about "we need new laws" and "reasonable gun control legislation" ('reasonable' as defined by liberals that is).

I wouldn't have an issue with that if it was focused on existing laws. The majority of weapons used in gun crime are from illegal guns and the majority of those are gotten through smuggling and straw purchases. THIS is what the ATF needs to be focused on and more power to them if they do. What I am NOT in favor of is the ATF greatly expanding the regulations and rules that will impact on lawful ownership.

I would also be in favor of locking up criminals that are arrested with guns. You can read over and over again about the revolving door for criminals that the police arrest. The arrested individuals is released time and time again because the DAs won't prosecute. Arrest and set free - again and again and again.

I would be in favor of having the ATF and other federal agencies crack down on gangs. The left loves to cite the CDC statistics from 2020 that the leading cause of death for children between 1 and 19 is from guns. They are absolutely correct (back in 2020 .. haven't seen anything since then). However, the second part to that is the majority of those deaths is from gang violence! Crack down on the gangs and you crack down on those deaths.

A number of Responses/Comments violating community standards have been removed.

Keep it respectful. As a reminder, you can advocate for your position forcefully and demean the other's position as much as you like. However, personal attacks are not allowed and those that continue to violate the community standards risk getting an enforced time-out and repeated violations may get them a permanent one.
