There are a raft of "conspiracy theories." If anything, the last couple of decades have taught us is that yesterday's conspiracy theory may well become tomorrow's truth.

It would be very interesting to pursue a scholarly investigation into the effects of relative geo-political position pre and post Covid.

One of my ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY zero basis-in-fact thoughts about Covid is that China may need ways to control its own population, both in size and in ethnic/regional relative population. We tend to think of communist China as one ethnically homogeneous nation. It isn't. And there are growing signs that economic disparities that closely match ethnic populations may be causing internal unrest. In a closed, tightly controlled society, biological warfare could be a way to thin the opposition in geographically isolated regions with more limited public health resources. Any spillover internationally that caused some level of international destabilization would be serendipity if China prepared itself for the opportunities a crisis might cause.

I'm not saying that is what happened. But I doubt that it was not a lesson learned anyway.
