Chris Grant and Jerry Olson chat about the second B in SBBB and the concert program
Chris Grant, conductor of the Spokane British Brass Band, and Jerry Olson, the band's tuba player (as well as SPR's chief engineer), entered the studio with E.J. Iannelli to talk about the SBBB's concert at North Central High School this weekend.
They outlined the history of British brass bands, their unique composition (i.e., no trumpets or French horns) and the types of works that these bands often perform. They also discussed some of the pieces that will be on this Sunday's "Brass at N.C.” program.
Three recorded SBBB performances from previous concerts were featured before, during and after the interview: "Flourish" by Vaughan Williams, "Blue Rondo a la Turk" by Dave Brubeck and "The Godfather Waltz" by André Rieu.
