..."Republican lawmakers in more than two dozen states have pushed for bans on gender-affirming care this year, targeting what doctors and psychologists widely consider medically necessary care.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends gender affirming care to treat children struggling with gender dysphoria. The organization says those who struggle with the condition are more likely to think about suicide or attempt suicide."

Some of the outrage warriors will probably counter that by saying it happens today when a child abnormally starts to go though puberty too soon (before age 8 in girls and before age 9 in boys).

Although the cause for this can't be found. Rarely, certain conditions, such as infections, hormone disorders, tumors, brain abnormalities or injuries, may cause this. Treatment for the condition typically includes medication to delay further development.

So yes, drugs are used to treat an abnormal development of the body because something caused it to develop abnormally. This is different than causing a normal body to develop abnormally.
