Every one of those is a tragedy, but just in Chicago this year, there have been 117 murders. Twelve of them were children and three of those children were under the age of 10.

Overwhelmingly the murders were gang or drug related. Where's the outrage about them? Is it silent because the a disproportionately high number of black-on-black crime or is it because the "gang and drugs" were responsible for the majority of the murders?

From the DOJ's study, "Gun violence in the United States" - "Gangs reportedly operate in 41 percent of urban schools, 26 percent of suburban schools, and 20 percent of rural schools. Long-term solutions to address the problem of gun violence must include a comprehensive approach to reducing the number of youth involved in gangs."

..."She also says schools need to take steps to have crisis intervention teams, suicide prevention teams, school based mental health, and anonymous reporting systems to give at-risk students resources, in addition to campaigning for improved gun safety among parents that are firearms owners.

"I think pushing for safe storage campaigns [is key] because the majority of school shooters are taking guns from home. So the more we can help parents who own firearms make sure those are secured, that's helpful," she added.

The problem is the authorities- they are NOT flagging these crazy folks, who have been crazy all their life. Hale, the shooter in Nashville was mentally ill, yet legally bought 7 guns. Cruz, the shooter at Parkland Fl., killed 17 students and injured 17 more. He was suspended from that school for being a trouble maker, so THEy knew about him, Then he was caught breaking into vehicles and homes, so the local PD knew about him, Fl Dept of Children and Families was in the home, for his bad behavior, so THEY knew about him; and finally the FBI investigated him, so THEY knew about him, yet NONE of them flagged him, so he walked into a gunshop, passed a BG check, bought a gun and went the STONEMAN HS and killed all those students. FYI the past 20 mass shooters did the same thing.

SO, a law that make those authorities accountable will stop mass shootings. IF they know a person is Mentally ill and Don't flag them and they go out and kill folks, THEY get charged for each and every death.
