I understand our military and political leadership is looking to erase our history. It this case they picked a very popular soldier to replace what they want. To me that doesn’t make it right. What I say takes nothing away from General Moore, he is a great soldier and person.

No matter how you spin it Changing the name is erasing American History. As long as FT Benning remained the name it was a reflection of how much American has paid for freedom. We need to look back at history occasionally so that we do not make the same mistakes.

This is NOT about "erasing our history" as some folks here keep claiming. It is about ending the honoring of a traitor to the United States. Now we are honoring a true American hero.

"Established in 1918, the base was originally named after Brig. Gen. Henry Benning, a Confederate general who strongly defended slavery and was a leader in the South’s secession movement"
