When I look at all the different "personalities" in bed with, or merely offering voice support to the Russkies, I gotta wonder if they ever paid attention to those many years of the Cold War.
I just don't see a whole helluva lot of difference between the Russia of today and the USSR yesterday. Yeah, the Bear has lost a significant amount of weight, but he's the same nasty animal down inside.

Have you ever visited or interacted with the Russian people? They don't hate us but we do make them scratch their heads wondering how we manage to function with the governments we elect. Putin reached out to Obama and nicely asked that we stay out of Syria, and Obama promptly stabbed him in the back. When we muck around in the Middle East, it affects them. When you peel off the layers, they have a lot more in common with us than say Muslim countries which don't recognize the authority of any government that isn't based on Islam. The Russians throughout history have been attacked by their neighbors, had their men killed, their women carried off and they suffer a mild inferiority complex which they make up for by projecting military might and scaring their neighbors. They want to be surrounded by puppet satellites because it gives them insulation from the West, which they see as inherently evil... because, well, it is. The Russians like to brag and they think everyone wants to be like them... but they're just as afraid of getting involved with us as we were with them during the height of the Cold War.

The Democrats like to project the nonsense that Trump was Putin's puppet and they blamed Russia for Hillary's loss in 2016, but truth be told, Hillary is so corrupt that even Democrats loathed the idea of her becoming President. And they don't like Trump because he was changing the status quo and holding government accountable.

Put yourself in the shoes of the average Russian. You know our politicians are liars, and you believe Russia had nothing to do with meddling in our elections. You read the news and know that the Democrats rig elections... and when the Democrats lose and blame Putin and Russia for altering the outcome of our elections, as a Russian you would think. "Wow, I know nothing of this so why is the US blaming us?" You would take offense to being blamed for what the US did to itself. You would think the US needs to get its act together and stop throwing its weight around. Mail-in ballots did far more to affect the outcome of our last election than Russian hackers. From the Russian perspective, America is like a bull in a China closet... a wrecking ball to all the countries it gets involved with. Blaming Russia for our foibles is counterproductive, it accomplishes nothing good for either side.

The War in Ukraine was instigated all the way back during the Obama Administration where we meddled in Ukraine's elections and got a pro-Western puppet government installed that replaced the pro-Russia puppet government. We broke our promise to Russia that NATO would not expand Eastward and brought more countries into NATO including Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Putin didn't like it, but he sucked it up and didn't start anything with NATO over it.

I had the unique opportunity to spend 2 weeks in Russia back in 2006 and I was shocked to find that it was in many ways comparable to life here. But to say they are the same is not entirely true. They are neither European, nor are they Asian; they are uniquely Russian and what you see is what you get -- at least with the people. They will tell you what's on their mind and they really don't care if it offends you. Political Correctness is not a concern of theirs and they don't understand our obsession with it. They think it's foolish to pretend you're a victim of this or that and they wonder why we put up with minority groups (such as LGBT's) that want to dictate the country's morality. They think we're stupid for putting up with their attacking Christian-owned businesses and engaging in lawfare against those who don't want to recognize their minority agenda. The Russians see the US as immoral and evil. They see the West as a cesspool of corruption and are aware that Western leaders had instigated the conflict in Ukraine and were taking advantage of the country's corruption to launder aid money and enrich themselves. People like Biden, but he's not the only one who was profiting from the conflict. Leaders in many Western nations were doing the same thing. The Russians rightly see our influence as toxic to their culture and they don't want it. They don't want Western Central Banks operating there and enslaving them in debt as they have done in Europe and the USA. They fear our technology and they don't want conflict with us... so it works to their advantage to bluff and pretend that they are a force to be feared and they have nuclear weapons. That is their trump card.

There's a bigger picture and to just dismiss the Russian people as "the same nasty animal" is an oversimplification. So are we. We're the same America with the same corrupt, lying leaders that can't be trusted at their word. The Russian people are no more responsible for the leaders they have than we are for the leaders we have. Do you really think the people elected Biden with 81 million votes in the safest and most secure election in US History? I think if you were to travel to Russia as I have, your perspective would change.

We blew many opportunities to build bridges with the Russians. When we needed masks for COVID (which our country had a hand in developing along with the Chinese) the Russians sent them to us. Then we turn around and stab them in the eye and send troops to Ukraine. For Russia, winning the War in Ukraine isn't just about protecting their national prestige, it's a matter of survival. They are not going to back down and they are willing to absorb pain to see it through. We have given them every reason to hate us. We were operating secret bio-labs in Ukraine and they didn't want that on their border. Our mucking around with gain-of-function research in China killed tens of thousands of Russians. Do you think that is lost on them? There's a lot going on that our government and lamestream media doesn't bother to tell us because they don't want us to know. They only want us to see and hear what they want us to see and hear and in so doing shape our opinions. There's more to the story than what we are being told. See the bigger picture.
