Florida schools remove books by John Milton and restrict Shakespeare
The Far-left "book burning" group the Democrats love to embrace but deny the existence of, #DisruptTexts, was behind getting California to place things like To Kill A Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, and more of the classics that have been taught for years.

#DisruptTexts aims to replace great texts with woke-approved ones. And it hides that goal in a slick Trojan Horse. The group claims that it does “not believe in censorship and have never supported banning books.” They get away with it by censorship by omission, a sleight of hand that would make the King of Ithaka clap in approval. For instance, they say: why teach your students The Odyssey? After all, it’s just one more book “centered on the white male gaze” and written by a white male author. And everyone knows that “for too long, the traditional ‘canon’ — at all grade levels — has excluded the voices and rich literary legacies of communities of color.” With Homer and company gone, you can chuck those gross white voices from the classics and substitute a rad suggested text, like Jesmyn Ward’s Salvage the Bones or Jacqueline Woodson’s Another Brooklyn. Texts like these, which “affirm and center BIPOC voices,” are examples of “liberation,” while teaching texts by white male authors “hurts all students, and especially students of color.” But who said anything about censorship!
But they aren't just sticking to affecting the curriculum anymore and are directly going after classics like Milton and Shakespeare and are encouraging their followers (https://twitter.com/hashtag/DisruptTexts) to use whatever means they can to remove these books from our children.
As Jonathan Zimmerman, a self-described liberal who wrote in The Dallas Morning News: “When conservatives try to ban a book, we liberals get up in arms. But when the threat comes from our own side, we often sit on our hands.”
So, Christian Communists, heal thyself.

#DisruptTexts believes it is helping students by freeing them from works like The Odyssey. My experience teaching Homer says the opposite.

Orange County school board reluctantly approves book ban policies, with hands tied by the state
The district’s general counsel confirmed in an Orlando meeting they’ll have to revise their policies, thanks to new law that makes it easier to challenge books in schools
Full disclosure, both sides submit books for review. But a Conservative on the Right wants to have a book reviewed for appropriateness because of the sexually explicit content or images. A Progressive on the Left wants to have a book reviewed because it doesn't fit their ideology.
