This is the intentional process:
1. Pander to the outrage for the given issue (riots, etc)
2. Champion the calls for defunding the Police and reallocate those funds on their current “progressive” and “social justice” pet projects.
3. Demand the Federal Government provides “emergency” funding to reinstate the Police forces.
4. Blame the other side (GOP) who warned them against defunding the Police and refuse to fix their mistakes. All while making claims the GOP doesn’t support the Police by providing a Federal bail out for blue cities. Essentially on the backs of the responsible red states and cities.

Anyone who didn’t see the coming doesn’t have two neurons that synapse. The idea is a federalized police force ran by DC. The lawlessness isn’t an accident.
