--- No. There is racism in the US military to this day. I don't doubt he did experience some racism. But I don't think that's why he willingly went into North Korea. He was going back to get court martialed and kicked out of the Army. Not sure why he thought North Korea was the better option...

SGT (Join to see) One Way or Another, He'd be used for North Korean Propaganda! Quality of Life? Not Going to be Great There but considering He would have continued in the Brig Here, Maybe the Better Choice!
