"British Columbia, a western province of Canada, has declared a state of emergency after wildfires tore through the mountains above the town of West Kelowna, forcing thousands of evacuations123. The officials released a statement saying that the next 24 to 48 hours could be the most critical1. The number of people under evacuation order in B.C. went from 4,500 to 15,000 in a matter of an hour2. The state of emergency came after the entire town of Lytton and much of the surrounding countryside burned to the ground on June 30."
