It seems odd on the surface. But.....

Tom was never a very good quarterback, athletically. He wasn't fast, mobile, had only passable arm strength, didn't have a lot of "zip" on his passes.... But he won 7 superbowls. 7. More than any TEAM in the entire history of the NFL.

He did it by turning average no-name receivers into superstars. He did it by understanding the game better than everyone else on the field. Including the coaches, most of the time. He did it by doing his homework, studying film, identifying and exploiting weaknesses of his opponents, and identifying and exploiting strengths of his own team. Simply put, Tom won because he worked harder and played smarter than everyone else.

Bringing on Tom Brady as an advisor on training, team building, and strategic planning makes sense in light of that. Sure, it will take Tom some time to get up to speed on the industry's rules and intricacies. But once he is up to speed, he can be an invaluable asset.
