For those who may not understand how fast light travels or the distances to any object in Space. A Light Year is the distance Light travels in one Earth Year.

It takes 8-minutes for light to travel from the Sun to Earth traveling at 186,282 miles per second or roughly 1 foot per nanosecond (1 Astronomical Unit). Measured in the Metric system, this amounts to exactly 299,792,458 meters per second or approximately 300,000 kilometers per second. Another way of looking at this is that measured in MPH, it works out to 671 million miles per hour. Sometimes the distance to a faraway galaxy is measured in PARSECS, One PARSEC equals 3.26 Light Years.
