More than likely it just opens the door for more hostages being taken for ransom.

MSG Stan Hutchison - How not? They have just gotten positive reinforcement that their hostage taking for ransom works. Take a hostage, get one of theirs and 1.2 billion a head released to them... That is called positive reinforcement in any language.

While I am overjoyed at having 5 of our illegally detained countrymen home safe and sound.... the reality is this... this only serves to embolden countries that do this.

How? We released or dropped charges 1:1 but released 1.2 Billion dollars per head in addition. Granted this is slated only for humanitarian needs but let's look honestly at that country and at their "humanitarian" accomplishments and judge logically and critically.
