Texas, while it was still a Republic under President Lamar, had a policy of driving all Indians out of Texas, basically pushing them to Oklahoma (Kiowa, Comanche, etc) or New Mexico (Apache, some pueblo tribes). The view of Texas and Texans has never really changed.

According to her stories, our roots extend into Texas, after which we ventured south of the border into Mexico, seeking deeper connections with the land, culture and community.
