Great story!
"He killed 40 Germans in less than an hour. The next day, he earned the Medal of Honor for killing more. Commando Charles E. Kelly did it by becoming a one-man army, holding back scores of German soldiers who surrounded the house where he was trapped with 30 other GIs. He used every weapon he could find—three Browning Automatic Rifles (BARs), a Thompson submachine gun, a Springfield rifle dating from World War I, a carbine, and an M-1 rifle."

I really love reading about the exploits of our heroes and every day fighting men. I really, really wish guys like Charles could have been helped to lessen the demons that plague them. He died way too soon.

I saw his his great Grandson left a comment on the warfarehistory story about his namesake. That legacy is why we serve.
