"The Barbary Wars are a forgotten conflict in American history between the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Did you know the United States fought a war AGAINST pirates! A whole bunch of "firsts" for the American military occurred in this conflict, setting precedent for the future of American military engagements. Also, the Treaty of Tripoli came out of this conflict, which has been used to justify that the US government is NOT founded on the Christian religion. What does that have to do with the Barbary Wars?
