Cyclist rebukes critics who say trans athletes unfairly beat her in amateur race

An Illinois woman who placed third in an amateur cycling championship is pushing back against criticism directed at the two transgender women who beat her in the event.
Kristen Chalmers called out “ridiculous” national headlines published immediately after the event that suggested the race was stolen from her. She also penned an open letter she soon hopes to publish alongside dozens of other cisgender women who competed at the Illinois State Cyclocross Championship defending their transgender counterparts.
“It would be ridiculous to say that my life has been ruined by getting third,” Chalmers told NBC News. “I had a great race, and it would have been more boring if it had been a smaller field without such strong competitors in it.”
Chalmers finished third in the women’s single speed championship on Sunday — a smaller race she described as a “warmup” to bigger events later that day — behind two transgender women, Tessa Johnson, 25, and Evelyn “Casey” Williamson, 30.
A photo of Chalmers, Johnson and Williamson accepting their medals drew backlash from conservative pundits who have regularly expressed outrage at transgender athletes participating in women’s sports.

All the faux outrage from conservatives about trans women athletes is just that - fake. They absolutely have never cared about women's sports and don't care still. They just want something to cry about. You never see them say anything about trans men athletes. Ever.
No trans athlete is dominating any sport. Not at any level in the US - not high school, college or pros and there aren't even that many.

If they are Transsexual Women then there is no advantage. After all they are more likely to have lower testosterone levels than their Cis female competitors.

SFC (Join to see) - Transgender is an umbrella term that covers multiple identities from cross dressers to non binary, AGender another umbrella term, bigender, Demigirl,Demiboy, multi gender, gender fluid, gender queer and ... Simply put it is a spectrum with cis males on one end and cis females on the other end and the rest somewhere in between. I understand it can be confusing. What I consider the big difference is that folks like myself will socially, medically and legally transition whereas the others don't experience that drive to be whole. They don't experience the crap we go through on a daily basis. It's also note worth to mention that unless the other variations actually out themselves no one will ever know. Whereas folks like myself after securing the gender marker change and name change have to take court orders to everyone we do business with such as SS, DMV, Utility Companies, Banks, Credit Card issuers, anyplace we have a membership, schools and on and on and one. All of these people now know we transitioned from MtF or FtM. The cost of becoming whole is everybody knows. Oh we can't forget the Name Change order sitting in the local court house that is a public record.

There are differences between trans and cis women. Lung volumes , cardiac output hemoglobin levels etc.

LTC David Brown First off your view of women is a stereotype. Now you increase lung and cardiovascular capacity through exercise and red blood counts by living at altitude like I do. Of course there are genetics involved and they are different from one person to the next regard even from a child to the next in a family. Your statement is simply utter BS and frankly I expect more from someone who has reached the rank of LTC but I guess I'm wrong on that count.
