Just another day of a dictator ignoring the Supreme Court's rulings. Which is something Trump never did.

Despite what the Dems say, he's less of a threat to our lifestyle than Biden . . .

So when are they going to give us back $112,000 for the GI Bill? Like NEVER. And Biden should be arrested for abuse of authority. Back on June 30, the Supreme Court rejected Biden's plan, saying that the president had overstepped his authority.

When conservatives start complaining about business loan forgiveness under the Paycheck Protection Plan, which was twice as much as the amount of student loans the President originally wanted to forgive, then they'll have some credibility on this issue.

LTC Kevin B. No, it's not JUST about being outside the budgeting process.

It is ALSO about separation of powers and who has the power of the purse (hint: not the President).

It is ALSO about Biden having been told - TWICE - by SCOTUS - that he can't forgive loans and him keeping at it in unique ways until he finds something g that sticks.

It is ALSO about Congress agreeing to pay for one and NOT agreeing to pay for the other.

And yes, larger giveaways that are debated in Congress and agreed to by Congress ARE better than smaller ones which are not. That's part of why we HAVE Congress. To make those decisions about spending priorities.

SFC Casey O'Mally - But Congress did authorize everything being done here (in the case of the examples previously mentioned in this thread), so there is no separation of powers issue. The Legislative Branch gave the Executive Branch that power. It's not about the SCOTUS either, because nothing Biden is using as a policy tool has been deemed unconstitutional (previous attempt yes, but not now). And your last point gets back to the budgeting process and the level of debt. Conservatives have shown over and over that those aren't dealbreakers when they want to do something.

LTC Kevin B. Just like Congress gave the Executove the power to forgive student loans for veterans which they tried- illegally - to expand for everyone.

Biden and Cardona are intentionally distorting and expanding beyond Congressional intent. And they keep doing and WILL keep doing it until something FINALLY passes SCOTUS.

Yes, I have a very big problem with that. If Congress wanted to forgive the loans, they could. They obviously do not want to, so Biden is just doing whatever the hell he wants and finding ways to justify it.

If you are OK with that, then I would say you probably don't really believe in our current form of representative democratic government. Because those representatives are supposed to matter.

And, for the record, I said very similar things with the same logic and intent when Trump started appropriating money for the border wall.

Congress decides what money is spent, and where. Period.

SFC Casey O'Mally - I'm much more familiar with fiscal law than you're giving me credit for. No need to try to lecture me on that. Given previous conservative actions over the years, I have seen the same things being done in support of their priorities (double standard), so I still fail to believe this has anything to do with spending levels, debt levels, the budgeting process, and/or separation of powers. At best, it's a weak talking point designed solely to sway public opinion in support of a reach for power. There's no meat behind their talking points. They fall like a house of cards when even slightly scrutinized.
