Lately, we had a racist Asian Mayor of Boston, MA tell white people are not welcome to the Christmas party she is throwing. Just think if Donald Trump or some other white person did this? They would be called a bigot and racist.

These were once moderate democrats but the democratic party left them. If someone wants to say Happy Holidays, that is their right. The ones who want to say Merry Christmas have the same right and no one can deny that right.
-Christmas in Britain wasn't formally celebrated until the beginning of the 19th century with Queen Victoria in 1848.
-The USA began formally recognizing Christmas in 1870.
-There were 13 colonies and depending on the colony, was whether Christmas was celebrated or not. Ones like Virginia celebrated Christmas.

People say "Happy Holidays" in December because there's more than Christmas going on in December. On Dec 25 go ahead say Merry Christmas until you're blue in the face. No one f* cares.
Also fun fact - the only time that Christmas was ever banned in America - at any point - was by Christians. No you can't say "ThAt WaS tHe ColOny" It's still American history...

Maj John Bell - What are you even talking about? I didn't watch the video. My original post was in response to seeing "Just say merry Christmas" on what you can see as the thumbnail for this video. To show that the only people who have ever banned Christmas in this country are Christians. So why tf are you going on about race to that post?
Then I replied to the OP about the Mayor having this party - which has been held for TEN years and she's been mayor since 2021...so where was this "outrage" for the years prior to this? Clearly everyone knew about it - it's one of dozens of events held there. So yes it's ok for her to host the SAME PARTY that's been held by OTHER MAYORS for TEN YEARS. (I can't bold so all caps). It's 100% ok to do so - and I addressed this above so go see that comment. I'm not repeating myself. A quick Google search and I found out that information.

There have been two non-white mayors of Boston. The first is an African American Woman, Kim Janey. Mayor Janey was the "acting" mayor for eight months, appointed after her predecessor, Marty Malsh left office to become US Secretary of Labor. Mayor Janey was not mayor during the Christmas party season. The second non-white mayor of Boston is the current mayor, Michele Wu.
If this party has been held for 10 years and hosted by the mayor of Boston, It has either been hosted by whites who attended, thus making the party NOT segregated. Or white mayors did not attend parties they hosted.
Your statement "...the SAME PARTY that's been held by OTHER MAYORS for TEN YEARS." is patently false. It has not been held by other mayors with a segregated invitation list for 10 years.
Where's the outrage for previous years?

2) It appears that this came to light purely by mistake. If Mayor Wu hosted similarly segregated parties in 2021 and 2022, I didn't know.
3) This is the first I've heard of such a thing in recent times, in ANY city, hence no prior thoughts on the issue. Had I been aware of such a practice since I became politically aware, I'd have called it out then too, regardless of which way the pie was sliced. I cannot fathom why a minority elected official would walk back TOWARD segregation.
Since you skipped over it, I'll ask again. Is it OK for a white American mayor to hold a party for elected officials of the city's government are the invitation list, unless they aren't white? My answer is no. What's yours?
I don't have a problem with "elected people of color" forming their own caucus to meet and discuss common issues of governance. It is no different than the Congressional Black Caucus. But to meet for a purely social occasion, and exclude people based on race, is at best "tone deafness."
_Did spouses and "plus ones" attend.
_If those spouses and "plus ones" did not meet the color filter, were they to be left home?
_If not, what is the basis for excluding white elected officials?
_Did the officials staff receive invitations? All of the staff? or just the ones that passed the color filter?
_If no city funds were used for the mayor's exclusive party, who paid for the kitchen staff, waitstaff and cleanup crew? For use of the city owned property? For the food, beverages and decor?
_Are the elected officials abusing their power by hosting private parties in government facilities that are not similarly available to the public-at-large?
Are the mayor's opponents going to make political hay out of this? You bet they are? So, why would the mayor shoot herself in the foot? Not very savvy.
