As a Critical Care Paramedic myself, I have more questions than answers with this case. What DOES concern me is that, according to the article, both Paramedics did NOTHING for airway management post administration. This is a HUGE red flag for me. Larger doses of Ketamine are used in our protocols for Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI). It can cause a patient to have reduced respiratory drive or even stop breathing completely.

I regularly use Ketamine for excited delirium. When used appropriately, it is a safe and effective medication.
