Most of my Christmas Days on board ship were deployed. The cooks went above and beyond with the meal.

COMMENT - "Merry Christmas to all of you aboard USS New Jersey and to you, Dear Reader..
Being the Silent Service we do not get too much bravado at Christmas in the submarine service. However, the story of Admiral Nimitz dining with the enlisted on USS New Jersey reminded me of my encounter with the Chief of Naval Operations at the time, Admiral Jay Johnson, while I was at boot camp at Great Lakes. For some reason, Admiral Johnson decided to have his lunch at my division's table with us lowly recruits only a few feet across the table from me."
