Maine State Police say they responded to a hoax emergency call at the residence of Secretary of State Shenna Bellows on Friday night.
The call was made by an unknown man who said he broke into Bellows' Manchester home. Nobody was in the house when police arrived, but they checked both inside and outside the home at Bellows' request. Nothing suspicious was found.
Bellows had spent much of the day in the national media after deciding that former President Donald Trump is ineligible to be on the state's Republican primary ballot because of his role in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol two years ago.
In a Facebook post, Bellows said her home address had been made public online prior to the swatting call, and she encouraged followers to de-escalate the rhetoric.

Typical hypocritical progressive. Is swatting bad or only swatting when it happens to one of the progressive elements of the Democrat party?
Most political swatting incidents happen against Republican politicians, but you don't hear the progressives calling those out.
Earlier this month, nearly 200 Jewish synagogues and schools across the US were targeted in just one weekend, but you don't hear the antisemicrats of the left calling those out (because they are the ones doing it).
