Waiting on the trump supporters (Russian useful idiots) to pop in and speak the usual propaganda.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - That is what amazes me that a group here do not understand that simple bit of reality. And they have a military background

Cannon fodder? Buffer zone?
Is it different than what Russia did with the USSR and the Warsaw Pact? If so, how?
Just playing Devils' advocate on this one. I don't trust Putin or Xi, nor do I trust Biden to handle this very well. Just wondering how this is any different.

MSG Billy Brumfield
LTC Eugene Chu - Of course they add additional assets and they applied to join NATO and it had to be voted on and all that bureaucratic red tape.
USSR didn't want to let Hungary out of the Warsaw Pact obviously because they didn't want to lose any assets and they were a buffer from possible land invasion from Western Europe.
No members have left NATO since inception although several have contemplated leaving NATO. Algeria used to be until it gained independence from France just as Malta and Cyprus used to be when they were under the British Crown they are the only "nations" to no longer be NATO members who once were. There are concerns with Turkey though.
My main point that I didn't get across evidently is they would be used as buffers until the bigger members can get into theater.
Or, as is the case in Ukraine, cannon fodder in our proxy was with Russia.
