Let me post this as succinctly as possible:
KEEP ALL RELIGION OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS!
(and all other public buildings.)

This is the safest thing to do but if people could open their eyes and learn about all religions there are good tenants in all of them. I am not Muslim but there are some great life morals in Islam but trying to get past people's stringent beliefs to explore other faiths is near impossible and likely violent. Certain professions should really be both apolitical and keep religion out. I am an RN and wont even pray with patients that I know have the same exact religion as I.

So, since I'm an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church, I could be a chaplain?

Well, given that we've both served in the military, we should share the same point of view of a chaplain. Chaplains were each ordained in a specific faith but trained to serve the needs of all service members regardless of faith. A Baptist chaplain could administer Last Rites just as a Catholic priest was prepared to recite the Jewish Viddui. Thus, the particular faith of a chaplain is not the point, is it? The point is that teachers are attending to the spiritual needs of their students with all the fervor of evangelists. Thus, we have teenage girls who ordinarily question their sexuality being led to take drastic measures to block their development, some even submitting to transexual procedures. We have climbing suicide rates. We could, of course, blame the parents, but now we see governments granting agencies preferential status in loco parentis and giving them the authority to help children pursue permanent solutions to temporary problems while parents are forbidden to interfere.

Now that's a valid question. Obviously (to me) no. See my response to Capt Gregory Prickett
