This is a part of Hamas PR strategy. They know there is a significant minority worldwide that sympathizes with Hamas. They also know that significant minority doesn't give a damn about the hostages in Hamas captivity.
The only acceptable solution is the total, unconditional surrender of Hamas (combatants and political leadership) and those who are engaged in the captivity of the hostages. The war crimes trial of Hamas should begin, with a very liberal sprinkling of the death penalty to the architects of the October attack.
