Much needed as more and more vets now require care and there aren't places in long term care facilities for them.

Addressing the VA's legacy issues.

The goal of my efforts to help make changes is to offer practical, common-sense solutions. One challenge I faced in developing these solutions is that existing policies tend to cling to traditional methods rather than seeking innovative ways to improve and streamline processes.

For example, I found that the dental clinics did not authorize full mouth reconstruction. "A comprehensive dental treatment that addresses multiple dental issues to restore the health, function, and appearance of a patient's mouth." Based on my visit with the chief of dentistry, it had never been approved in the history of his clinic or in the other clinics he had spoken with in Texas.

It took me close to a year to get this procedure approved to benefit veterans. The specialist I was able to get approved was also tricky and caused delays. Because the procedure had never been approved, no specialist was listed on the VA-approved list. (prosthodontist) not listed, but now listed. It only took a couple of months to get him approved, which was significantly less time than it took to get the procedure approved.

Bottom line, now thousands of veterans have received this necessary treatment.

Sounds great, but with all the controversy about caregivers that we see locally in Florida one must be extremely careful in vetting a caregiver.
