Good evening, Rallypoint, and welcome to this edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for March 11, 2025.
NGC 1672 is a more familiar site for denizens residing in the Southern Hemisphere, but thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) we can enjoy it as well. The galaxy lies about 60 million light years from Earth in the constellation Dorado (The Dolphin). Dorado contains most of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), as well as the South Ecliptic pole. So unless you want to take a trip to the 'Land down Under'...
NGC 1672 has been appearing in APOD since 2007.
