Beauty is in the eye... and this "beholder" is more concerned with function over form. To me, planes like the P-51 Mustang and Sabre Jet were the most pleasing to my eye in their time, but were they the best? Judged by function, they were handsome fighters but ugly bombers. And let's not forget performance. To be fair, the DC-3 / C-47 was both handsome and among the best in its function (with a helluva a safety record). So, what about the Fairey Gannet?

There are many, many ugly aircraft, CPT Jack Durish, and here are just a few! Ugly!

The tubular one on the bottom right is more weird than ugly, and yet it had some good flight characteristics. The rest are ugly.
