I think it's great news for education.. Next up, diminishing, or abolishing, the role of the unions where teaching is concerned.

LTC Trent Klug How, exactly, are teachers unions adversely impacting the education level of our students?
Is it because those unions are so successful with securing a king's ransom in salary for teachers?

Teachers in the US face low pay relative to their level of education | USAFacts
Most public K-12 teachers hold a master’s degree, but their median pay is nearly $20,000 lower than the median worker with an advanced degree.

SGM Jeff Mccloud The teachers unions were the biggest pushers of keeping kids out of the classroom when covid hit and we're pushing to keep kids out long after the pandemic had past.

You're not wrong. Europeans are still subjects. They ditched their crowned heads, but they didn't free themselves. Instead, they remain subjects, with party leaders and unelected bureaucrats as their rulers. Only in America did those who threw off their king NOT take power for themselves and instead put our natural rights above and out of the reach of the ruling class.

I fail to see how this problem connects to the Dept of Education, it's not even mentioned in this editorial.
Unless you were somehow under the misconception that the Dept was in any way involved in developing curricula, standards, or graduation requirements for the states.
They did not have any involvement in that, we did a whole thread on this.

US History is a requirement in every state, and American Govt is still a requirement in every state except Alaska, Delaware, Kansas, Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
The reason kids suck at American Govt is the same reason they suck at math, science and even reading; because their parents are failing them, and teachers handling discipline for all those parents are lucky to get 10 minutes of instruction out of an hour of class.

An Overview of the U.S. Department of Education: What is Not Part of ED's Role?
The U.S. Department of Education is the agency of the federal government that establishes policy for, administers, and coordinates most federal assistance to education.

Are you suggesting that the Department has had nothing to do with the far left teachers' unions? That it has NOT made federal funding contingent on adopting certain norms? That it hasn't been inimical to parents' rights when it comes to their children's education?
C'MON, MAN!!!

SGM Jeff Mccloud I agree whole-heartedly, parents are failing their kids. Teachers can't make up for crap parenting.
