Makes sense, I guess! Who am I to say otherwise? However, I’d hate to be airborne qualified, in an airborne unit and not be able to jump!

SGT Carl Blas - My first jump at Bragg (Pope AFB) was out of a C-119. Damn think rattled and vibrated so bad while still on the ramp, I wasn't sure if it would hold together once airborne!

CPT (Join to see) - The closes I got to water in a jump was jumping into Panama.
C-130 jump, from Bragg to Panama was a few hours out of Pope ABF at Bragg.
First man in the door, looking down, we were over water, I yelled at the JM, "There's Water down there". He yelled back, "YEAH, don't worry, the wind will get you over land", green light and "GO" over the water, and we were all blown over to the LZ.
The LZ in the picture was covered with cane, where my PLF was, the cane was over my head, couldn't see anyone else. Someone yelled out, "Anyone else here", I yelled back, "Shut Up Stupid, look for yellow smoke".
Lol, yeah, what smoke, went south east to the Rally Point, and connected with others, got on a landing craft to go to the AO.

SFC Jerry McLellen - My first jump out of a C-119 was in jump school at Benning 1972, our first three jumps were in a C-119.
Yeah, you're right, alot of noise in a C-119, the JM told us on our first jump, "Welcome to the Shake, Rattling and Roll".
In the picture, in our class year book, I like to think it's our class loading in a C-119. There was one guy after jumping our first jump, he quit and refussed to do a second jump. What a waste of a hard time in jump school, and quitting on his first jump.

SGT Carl Blas - Great story and photos. Jumping into the SF Bay was the softest landing I ever made, albeit a wet one! AATW!
