I support home schooling, but I also think parents should acknowledge when it's not for them.
At Campbell I worked with a guy who was homeschooling his son, and there were several problems with that:
1. he was home schooling his son, not his wife, after he got home from working 0600 to 1800, or what we called "half days".
2. he consistently misspelled all of our names, and we were wearing name tapes every day.
3. he frequently failed simple math problems like dividing a 3 digit amount of ammo by 9 (number of people on the team at the time).

Well you know why they tell us 6-9 round bursts on the machineguns right.....because they don't want us to take off our boots or drop our drawers to count over 10!

I should also add that for those living on/near post, the DODDS schools are typically a much better option than the closest public and private schools, and probably a better option than most parents ability to home school.

I'd Like To Get Vic Burks Opinion On This, But When I Was Working In The Schools Here In Vegas And This Subject Came Up, As It Often Did, Every Teacher Stated Home Schooling Is The Best Way To Go IF The Parents Had the Skills To Be Of Help To The Student; And Further Stated The Reasoning: Much Of The Class Time Is Spent Getting The Students Settled Down And Paying Attention To What Was Being Taught, And That Cut Into The Teaching/Learning Of The Students. Several Other Things Such As Cell Phone Interruptions And Kids Just Plain Goofing Off, Whereas With Home Schooling The Students Could Go At Their Own Pace And Have Better Access To Information And Have The Opportunities To Even Graduate Earlier. ~~
