Based on the investigation, it’s clear Wicker took his time to plan out an elaborately fake scheme. He conjured up bogus dates and details on a false DD-214 form. In 2006, he was ready to take his trickery to new heights, applying for a disability rating and receiving benefits from the VA. When the GI Bill became available for post-9/11 veterans, Wicker signed up for that, too.
Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) reported that Wicker joined a Marine Facebook group to try to legitimize his fraudulent handiwork.

This thread made me smile. But I am going with a punishment from The Hitchhiker's Guide, and Heinlein's "Time enough for love." Lock him in a room with Amateur Poets, and have him listen to that drivel, every waking moment. And force him to associate with people who read poetry in Public.

No amount of punishment is suitable to a low life like this. But I'd like to suggest that when convicted he be sent to Leavenworth military prison rather than a civilian prison.

This low life should be forced to repay every single cent he collected (with interest!) and then be required to complete not less than 1000 hours of community service at a VA facility. The duties should include serving actual Veterans and assisting them with physical tasks they are no longer able to perform due to disability.

This idea I am going to have to disagree with as he will never come close to having a right to be anywhere near us. I would not let him clean my trashcans.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I can understand that sentiment. I was thinking along the lines of making him repay the community rather than sitting in a prison cell with even more taxpayer money being spent on him. I don't disagree with your statement though.
