APOD: 2026 January 24 - Earthset from Orion

Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the January 24, 2026 edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).
On November 16, 2022, NASA sent Artemis I on its way to the Moon carrying the uncrewed Orion spacecraft. The primary goal of this mission was to thoroughly test the integrated systems before any crewed missions were attempted. Today's APOD was taken by cameras aboard Orion on November 22nd. The Orion spacecraft returned to Earth on December 11, 2022.
Fast forward to today. The launch window for Artemis II (carrying a crew of four) opens February 6th. I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to it.

Maj William W. 'Bill' Price Amazing photo. I often think the accuracy of the math, and the required variables that allow the use of gravity in that way, is as amazing.
