COL (Join to see) I have heard the term Roman Inquisition, from high school. I was probably passing notes in class that day and did not learn what it was and how it affected one of the world's known philosophers. I enjoyed this read. Very interesting. Thank goodness we do not get exiled in our homes, for believing differently.

Thankfully, the Church doesn't have that power any more!

If you have the time, reading his letters from his Daughter and to his Daughter (she was a Nun) are pretty interesting. If is very difficult to understand the power of the Church before the Protestant Reformation for us Modern Folks. We get glimpses, but their World View was shaped entirely and their lives run...by the Church. And nobody gives up that kind of power easily. All you have to do is look around today...and you see that same thirst to control everything.
