A Look At Air Force Readiness 68 Years After Its Formation

After 68 years of organized air power, have strategic cost reductions taken a toll on Air Force readiness?
I don't know much about the Air Force, but this is an interesting read. I would like to read your thoughts about this article. It was written by an Air Force member.
Flying machines have only been around for a little over 100 years, but the state of human aviation as a military discipline has always been dynamic. The U.S. Army adopted airplanes in 1907 under the Aeronautical Division, Signal Corps, but the uniformed piloting of airplanes has never been without controversy.
Several decades of often vigorous disagreement within the Army over what to do with its budding air power was interrupted by World War II, and the debate was shelved. Ironically, it was the extensive strategic bombing campaigns and atomic warfare from that conflict that helped military air power prove itself worthy of becoming a separate service. On Sept. 18, 1947, the United States Air Force was born as part of the National Security Act of 1947. Since that time, the Air Force has proven its mettle time and time again. First in Korea, then Vietnam and Desert Storm, the Balkans, and finally as part of today’s campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Syria.

Interesting article. So my response is premised on being ready for what? I attended a session at March AFB in 1995 or there abouts (when it was an AFB vs a reserve base) with Gen. Fogleman, the then AF Chief of Staff. He said in that session that he could see some years in the future that a pilot would not be the AF Chief of Staff but an engineer. With the increased use of remotely guided platforms I now understand what he meant (I'm sure no one who attended the session fully realized his vision).
I honest can't say the AF is headed in the wrong direction since I don't have any intel on the future enemy (I have faith those in the intel world have this figured out). I believe there are few if any enemies who can stay in the air against the US military. I understand the use of remotely controlled weapons limits our troops to the exposure of harm. The fact the F-35 doesn't fit the role it was built for may be due to the long development/production time it takes to acquire a new platform, or its just due to poor politics. So is readiness begin harmed? It depends for what we are being made ready. As Peter Drucker said, “Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window. ” I trust the military system to anticipate what's to come - I don't trust the politicians (Congress) to get it right, or the industrial military complex (as warned by President Eisenhower). Just my humble opinion.

Much mismanagement. You would think our military would be the last thing to be cut back on and mismanage since we are our country's protectors.

I ran several small businesses with my family, and the "due to cuts" is a bullsit excuse. However, I must must say that majority of businesses I deal with are not into taking a loss just protect a reputation of superior customer satisfaction. Yet majory of businesses are still open under what I regard as mismanagement. It must mean it is not better or worse, but just different. Sad that the core values integrity, service, excellence is not the current excuse for our forces. Just because it is difficult to maintain, many opted for the easy road. Our future military might are now depending on the revolutionary freshman of the military to rise to the occasion.

Lets get this off my chest.
The US Air Force is the net result of disobeying military order. Army rebellion of sort.
William "Billy" Mitchell lost his career fighting command to allow air power to grow. This fight was nothing less than rebellion against the establishment. The US Air Force decided to downsize his role, and push him aside as the father of the Air Force. Against all odds, he fought for his country, against foreign and domestic enemy, and they want to erase him from the history book. Fear of providing a strong example for the future Billy Mitchell.
How many generals lost their career fighting Pentagon's bigotry, I will never know, they will never talk. You would be lucky to receive a personal conveyance from a veteran who had known the struggle against domestic enemy.
The very existence of US was owed in large part US air power. Air Power would not existed had it not been for a small few visionary fighting bigotry to devote efforts into a usable Air Power.
Reading many Air Force birthday writings etc, it indicate a lost of heritage. The root of air superiority came from superior stocks. That stock have not been replenished, but persecuted.
Which is a reflection of the broader culture of US civilization. The reward of the instituational man, and the persecution of the individual man. Silent became the highest prized quality, and integrity must take a hiding to survive the purge, of what is perceived to be a threat to the silent establishment (Secret society 101). Founding fathers are sacrificed and erased, to make room for the indoctrination against reason.
On any organization birthday, it should reflect on the purpose of its existence. No matter how great an entity is, once it's purpose to be ceased, it's existence will soon cease as well. No matter how small and insignificant an entity is, if it fulfill its purpose to exist, it will likely proliferate, however many thousand of years it will take.
With that, we are introduced to the new Cyber Command. Instead of having a 4th branch of the military, as neither the Army, Navy, Air Force, or any of the old force are suitable to lead a Cyber battleground they have no business playing in. Cyber Command efficacy will largely depend on its ability to break away and becomes one with itself and discard all that which it does not need. Like flying planes with horse spurrs.
