Yep. In a nutshell...the "poor" have always imitated the Rich ...given a chance. From putting sugar in the window, to laying out a linen table cloth, or putting a rocking chair on the front porch to show you had furniture. Every level ...well. tried to level up. Throw in advertising and marketing, and it is almost impossible to avoid the influence of consumerism.

Lt Col Charlie Brown I did not know this history of the consumer becoming an important part of capitalism around the2920s and progressing after WWI and them becoming a trail blazing part of the country's economy that allowed poorer people to get some nice necessities but certainly the more luxury items were purchased by the more financially comfortable.
