Sgt Tom Cunnally - That's a very good question. After thinking about it I'm not sure he ever felt anything about his daughter's behavior at anytime. Henry Fonda seemed aloof and distant from his family which, in large part, was responsible for Jane's inability to function without the guidance of a strong male father-figure. When she went to Hanoi and did the other things, she was merely a dupe acting out the instructions of the current man in her life.

CPT Jack Durish - Did you ever see " Mr Roberts??" apparently in WWII Fonda was a Navy officer on a Ship that was never in harm's way but he did volunteer for duty on an APA to go to the Pacific but that request was denied. So that may explain why he did just a great job in the movie ???I liked James Cagney who looked like the Captain of the USS Fremont that I served on and the both even ran a ship very much alike.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - Who hasn't seen Mr Roberts. Three is no doubt that Henry Fonda was a great actor. However, as a family man, he seems to have failed

This is what swimsuits looked like the year I was born Carole Lombard was married to Clark Gable and killed in an Airplane crash when she was on a War Bond tour in WWII. He was so broken up over this he joined the Army Air Corps and rose to the rank of Captain.
