Don't know how it got there but the diver is a brave man to do that to give closure to some family.

Not really a "diver." His rating (MOS) is AST, Aviation Survival Technician. I believe that his rate (paygrade) is E-5.

That was my thoughts exactly. CG Divers don’t deploy from helicopters. Rescue Swimmers do (AST rated).
