A firefighter was killed Thursday in California's El Dorado Fire, according to officials at the San Bernardino National Forest.
"Our deepest sympathies are with the family, friends and fellow firefighters during this time," forest officials said in a statement. The cause is under investigation, and the name of the firefighter is being withheld until the notification of next of kin.

I am sandwiched between the El Dorado fire and the Bobcat fire. Both have done serious harm to our forest. God bless the firefighter that died. He was an experienced Crew Boss from the Big Bear Hot Shots - a rapid response unit. Although his name is known to us that worked with him or knew him, his name is still not being released pending notification of family. As a volunteer firefighter here in the San Bernardino Mountains, we grieve his loss. He was one of us.
