If they're made from the same steel as made in china crap tools I predict it folds up like foil the first time it runs into some white caps.

I’ll go with the pride & prestige motives. As they pointed out, everything China claims is within striking distance of land-based aircraft.

Ski jump will never rivals ours. Limits too much what armament you can carry. Hence single role...You can refuel in the air, but the ordnance handlers have a hard time slinging ammo around at 20k feet!
