I assume that you are trying to persuade me of something but I confess that the only thing I've learned so far is that you are angry.

If you are trying to persuade instead of just venting; Let me help you out:

First, - Socialism - a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. According to Marxist theory - a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism. What does socialism have to do with "...police brutality against people of color" and "civil rights movements"? Unfortunately, "open-minded and forward thinking" does not mean correct. You might be but so far your argument hasn't even risen to the level of "weak."

Second, profanity is the emotional expression of inarticulate people with small vocabularies. It doesn't make your argument stronger, it just makes it easier to dismiss you until you can come back with calm rational discussion and conduct yourself with a modicum of civility

Third, please cite your proof that it is a myth "That people get more conservative as they grow older." I don't accept the assertion based on your word.

You could tatoo that first definition on the Sanders folks heads and they still would not get it. None of them have been in a self declared Socialist Country. None of them have seen Police Brutality in a Socialist Country or attempted to protest in one. It's sad.

I was going to say the same, not sure what capitalism has to do with police brutality.

PFC Jim Wheeler - Unfortunately PFC Harry Leuchen is long on wild assertions but short on defending them.

Indoctrination is a powerful force for good or evil. Once upon a time we indoctrinated our youth with American ideals of Independence and self-reliance. Capitalism followed naturally. Then we never lazy and handed off responsibility for our children's education to teachers indoctrinated be socialist professors. Is anyone surprised at the result?

Respect. But most of what school teaches is hero worship and the Myth of a Nation. There wouldn't be an America--as we know it--without the Army taking a shitload of land at gunpoint and the politicians giving it to robber barons.

You used a very important word, there, CPT, "indoctrination." I was never taught by evil socialists. I simply questioned the nuns until they fainted dead away. As for prayer, that's another myth for another time. Some of our colonies started out as theocracies who refused to let other versions of Christianity reside in peace and their vestiges still rule our government.

The self-reliant model, the rugged individual, and the invisible hand of the capitalist "free market" don't stand a chance against gunslingers like Ford, GM, IBM, and ExxonMobil.

Capt Michael Greene - You might enjoy this story of my own experience as a reluctant scholar. That being said, even if you missed the indoctrination in school, you've obviously been its victim (witness your comments). It's also being fed to us in the popular culture (film, television, music, et al) and the news media (our "journalists" attended the same colleges and universities as our school teachers).

CPT Jack Durish - Ummm. Cute story. Now let's get back to where you extolled the virtues of the traditional indoctrination into some fantasy of American self-reliance and its leading naturally into the joy that is capitalism. You also supposed that educators today are socialists. My own indoctrination in DoD schools and Catholic schools was quite conservative. In the various colleges I attended, I don't think I met any socialists, except the guy visiting from China. I think your original comment on this short thread needs supporting.

What makes you think that "socialism" is preferred? Are you speaking of the stereotypical socialism of Stalin and Mao? Or does the younger generation simply want capitalism to have oversight and the people to be protected from disaster as the Europeans do?

Not to interject on your comment but crony capitalism is a problem and we'll see that those companies are in bed with government the democrat socialist utopia, now I have a problem when politicians create programs and can't run them properly and many things but i think there should be safety nets, I see the social programs as the meta game behind a free market without debilitating red tape, im for protecting workers and the choice of unions vs non.. There is corruption
