A Question of Power: The Imperial Presidency
The American Legion magazine this month has an article on the broken balance of power in our federal government and how the president has usurped for himself powers not authorized by the Constitution. The American Legion is the most respected veteran's organization in America chartered by Congress. The American Legion is non-partisan and I don't recall such an article ever being published in the magazine in my years of membership. This fact should be a very sober wake-up call for all Americans. The unauthorized usurpation of power not authorized by the Constitution through the Citizens is tyranny.

He has yet to exercise any power that was not granted to him through acts of Congress by the representatives of the American citizens.
Until the Patriot Acts are repealed in full and provisions in the National Defense Authorization Acts are determined to be unconstitutional (provisions placed by Congress, and annually re-affirmed), he is acting within the law as it is currently understood.
And I have to agree with 1SG Nick Baker, Congress needs take responsibility for it's part in this fiasco. The fact that midterms resulted in a 90% re-election rate... It would appear as though the US citizenry is satisfied with the Status Quo... Sorry Mitch, you're sucking this lemon for another 2 years.
As for the Empire... We've been playing that game since we declared independence.

That article is an opinion and lacks fact to back up the authors claims. What power did every president have until Nixon? The presidents uses to make the federal budget. Congress needs to man up and do their job, they are 1/3 of the federal power.

Vet the source. I read the article and much of what Turley said is common knowledge. If Turley didn't know what he was talking about, he would NOT be a professor at GWU nor would he be frequently called in to testify before Congress on constitutional issues. I agree ONLY with your last sentence.

When Democrats lack facts, they tend to make them up, just as they did when they sold Obamacare to the nation, just as they did with Global Warming, just as they did with Trayvon Martin, just as they did with Ferguson. Truth is relative. It's whatever it needs to be to advance their Progressive agenda.
When Bush said there was WMD in Iraq, Liberals skewered him and blamed him for lying to them and duping them to support an unjust cause... and then we find out there were WMD in Iraq.
