My civilian job allows Muslims to wear beards and Native i e Indians to have long hair even though we all have to look like Disneyland with trim mustache shorter hair and no beard. God helps those soldiers when there's a chemical attack!

It is BS. Either you are part of a uniform Force with common rules and regs, or you’re not. You enlist or commission into a branch of service, not they ask you to come along picking and choosing which rules you want to follow. Sadly, in this f’d up day and age of PC above all else, such things have evolved into the norm.
We will not be the better for it.

It is not BS, as you have said. It was a long process to get to this point and the Soldier was properly vetted as per current policy and regulations, so if it was approved, then so be it.

This is not some new widespread phenomenon where every Soldier is now allowed to grow beards. He will still have to maintain a neat appearance and follow existing policy, and shave it if directed by the CDR for CBRN reasons.

As CPT Ledgerwood said, any Christian should have the same option as Jesus presumably and traditionally had (has) a beard. Makes exactly as much sense.
We disagree- ain’t that grand? Leave it at that.

Well ... Shit! I guess I need to get a lawyer. I'm 58 and want back in the service! Since the service has to make special arrangements for everyone else, seems to me that the government is using age discrimination against people like me!
