Perhaps we need to get rid of BK, Domino's, Pizza Hut, Popeyes, QDoba on bases.

Improve DFAC quality so Soldiers will want to eat better and not go out

Lack of sleep is not a new thing...there are just new medical studies and reports on the effects of sleep deprivation. Sleep apnea was unheard of until Reggie White died of it in 2004. It has taken a decade for the medical studies to catch up. It's not lack of sleep for a day or week that is of concern, but a continual and prolonged lack of sleep that will severly impact overall health.

Sleep deprivation is SOP for many MOS's! Ranger candidates are lucky if they get 4 hours of sleep a night!

SPC Jimmy Rooks I - Limited sleep deprivation isn't an issue...continual sleep deprivation is.

I served in the U.S. Army from '81-'87, and believe me, we already KNEW about "sleep apnea"! Ya know, you youngsters think you're the FIRST ones to ever experience anything!

SPC Jimmy Rooks I - You seem confused. I served from '88-'08 and saw how "military medicine" evolved as actual medical studies were conducted and reported over that time. My symptoms started in 1992, but Navy docs didn't order a sleep study until 1999. (the ENT surgeon ordered my surgery 2 weeks after the sleep study.) Funny that you "KNEW" about sleep apnea in 81-87, but the first real clinical study wasn't completed until 1993. Wish you would have advised military docs so that I didn't have to suffer so long. Thanks for your input, "old timer."
